So I'm in the works of making a card game. Now my only thing is I'm a little stuck on what to make the cards. I'm thinking of doing an anime mashup of cards. What do you guys think? Anime characters, game characters, or the big one....Marvel vs DC cards. Now a brief overview is all Creature cards will have the basic attack skill and then an additional skill. There will be attachment cards but they are no good for battle, only for buffing your characters while in battle. I'm just seeking some feedback.

Is this some sort of a fan game? Asking because you mentioned game characters, Marvel, and DC

So, are we looking to make a Duel Monsters type game here?

Easier said than done...

I´ve been floating around an idea for a card game within my RPG, but despite my years of RM knowledge, it would take me close to a thousand hours to get right. So, I´ve avoided the urge thus far.

All I can say is, know what you´re getting yourself into. This is going to be extremely difficult and newer devs suffer from Dunning Kruger.

Pfft an RM card game? What a nerd

Tbh you've given a super vague idea so I cant say much about the mechanics other than just hitting each other is pretty brutish. People generally like some level of tactics/strategy in games and that goes doubly for that particular genre. Simply owning an objectively more powerful deck than your opponent is pretty dull and, again, even deck building isn't that much fun if certain cards are objectively 'the right answer'.

As for an IP orgy? Eh, they don't seem to go down well with the RM community. Even within the fan communities of whatever IP you include you're going to hear a lot of how your balancing is asterisks because Goku is obv stronger than Superman; I mean, c'mon, Superman can't even turn his hair yellow.

Besides there's always that chance of C'n'D in the mail so maybe you'd just be better off using original characters.

This topic got me thinking a lot... and I found a way to incorporate a card system into the RM´s default battle system. It won´t be perfect by any means, but if you´re interested in saving a lot of time and heartache with extensive programming, and are willing to think outside of the box, then let me know either here or in a PM.

Sorry about the super late reply guys. So I have decided to use original battlers. I'm speaking with aekashics about some art. If you wish to know how the system will look, check out Tomoaky. He created the card system. Also the game will revolve around a lot of strategy due to the skills and tiers of the cards. You will have a max of 5 cards yet their placement and skills will fall heavily on top of their base stats. As soon as you think you've made the perfect unbeatable deck, I promise someone will have something better. Atleast I think so haha.
