Writer (and Maybe Artist) Looking for a Team

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm CreatorDev and I - as stated in the topic title - am a writer and kind of an artist. While I know how to use RPG Maker VX Ace, I know that others may use it much better than I can.

I am no pixel artist, but I do anime-style pictures. Although I wouldn't say I am the greatest.

I don't have any writing examples... I'm not sure why now that I think about it. I don't publish online and I write unfinished stories in my notebooks so I suppose that's why.

To tell you the truth, I haven't a clue what the plot should be. I want the ending or even the story line to be similar to this video. Yes I am unoriginal. Basing a game on Hamilton. Jeez.

If you haven't seen Hamilton yet, I like it a lot but I'm not forcing you to if you don't have to. The whole thing is two freaking hours long (of just songs). If you have watched it but need a refresher or if you haven't watched it but don't really want to watch it but want a summary, here we go:

Alexander Hamilton is a "bastard, orphan, son of a whore and a Scotsman" who was born in the Caribbean. His father left him when he was ten and when he was 12, he and his mother were sick and his mother died. After his mother died, he worked very hard to educate himself so he sold sugarcane and other things to buy books. When he was 17, there was a hurricane that destroyed his town and thus he wrote his pain and suffering down and everyone read it. Moved by his words, the villagers collected a sum of money to send him to New York.

In 1776, Hamilton is 19 years old and tries to get into Princeton to get his education and hears about Aaron Burr, a prodigy. He goes and meets Aaron Burr and finds that he is also an orphan and wishes for a war to fight in and oh ho, the American Revolution is coming near.

He also meets John Laurens (which, historically, Hamilton may have had some sort of amorous connection with) - an abolitionist looking to free slaves and create the first all-black military regiment, Marquis de Lafayette - the Frenchman who aided America with gaining independence, and Hercules Mulligan - a tailor's apprentice wanting to "socially advance instead of sewing some pants".

The three hit it off and talk about revolution openly. Aaron Burr says that, "If you talk, you're gonna get shot" and suggest to Hamilton to, "Talk less, smile more. Don't let them know what you're against or what you're for."

Hamilton, however, wears his heart and intentions on his sleeve and speaks about everything that is on his mind.

Also there are three sisters, Angelica, Eliza(beth), and (Margarita) Peggy Schuyler. Angelica Schuyler is "the oldest and the wittiest" and speaks of talking to Thomas Jefferson about politics. Elizabeth Schuyler was "never been the type to try and grab the spotlight" and is trusting and kind. Peggy... She's Peggy and is historically Hamilton's good friend after he marries Elizabeth Schuyler. Angelica is also really flirtatious with Hamilton (even though she is married in real life, but in the musical she is not)

British General Howe has surrounded New York with 32,000 naval troops. George Washington appears and announces that he and his army are "outgunned, out-manned, outnumbered, out-planned". Hamilton steals British cannons and other historical figures wants to hire him to be their secretary. He declines these as he wants to fight in the revolution and not be a passive soldier. Washington also offers this, but since he's the main general, Hamilton (though still reluctantly) takes this opportunity. Burr has shown interest in this position but is never acknowledged by Washington.

Hamilton tries to get promoted to general but that is given to Charles Lee in which he lets many men die and Lafayette has to take over. Lee talks badly about Washington and Laurens duels him for Washington's honor. Lee gets shot and Hamilton, as Laurens's second, has to meet with Washington. Washington is frustrated with Hamilton and finally tells Hamilton to go home.

Elizabeth, his wife, is pregnant and had asked Washington to send Hamilton home. When he gets home, he is surprised that she is pregnant.

Lafayette has achieved getting French aid and convinces Washington to have Hamilton back to battle in Yorktown. We find out that Laurens is in South Carolina trying to get the first all-black regiment together, Lafayette is waiting to help in Chesapeake Bay, and Hercules Mulligan was helping by spying on the British government.

The Battle of Yorktown was won but John Laurens dies because troops had not known it had ended.

Hamilton and Burr become lawyers and Washington the president. Hamilton also become Treasury Secretary and is confronted by State Secretary Thomas Jefferson (previously located in France as an ambassador) because Hamilton had planned for the government to assume states' debts, make American credit competitive, and establish the first national bank.

Hamilton must refine his plan before it gets passed and passes up the opportunity to "take a break" with his wife, his son and daughter, and Angelica. This leads to America's first scandalous affair ,in which Hamilton meets Maria Reynolds who states that her husband beats and cheats on her and leaver her alone (when they have a child) and they engage in... amorous stuff. Her husband finds out and Hamilton has to pay Mr. James Reynolds to continue this affair. It continues for two years.

Washington resigns and John Adams becomes president with Jefferson as vice-president. James Madison and co visit Hamilton for embezzling American money to James Reynolds but tells that he was paying him with his own money to have an affair with his wife.

Hamilton writes the Reynolds Pamphlet telling this to all of the nation and Eliza burns all the letters her husband had wrote to her.

Hamilton's son, Philip Hamilton, who is now 19, gets in a duel with George Eacker because he had talked badly about Philip's father. He dies and this sends Hamilton to be depressive for a long time. Eliza forgives him for everything and everything is fine until the Election of 1800.

Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Aaron Burr are all running for president. Hamilton endorses Jefferson rather than Burr and Jefferson become president with Burr being vice-president. Enraged, Burr challenges Hamilton to a duel (even though he sincerely dislikes duels) at Weehawken at dawn. Hamilton decided to raise his gun to the sky as he had told his son to do (he also realized he is near the same spot his son died and he had shared his gun with him) but Burr, by accident(?), shoots Hamilton right between his ribs and hides lest he get convicted of murder.

It's much more humanizing in the musical and much more dramatic in the video above. If we do something like this, I want it to feel almost, if not, hopeless at parts.

I know this puts me in a bad position, but I have not been able to have an idea for writing in such a long time. I don't know what to do. Maybe this might help me. Maybe... Hopefully... I know Hamilton isn't original anymore but it's all I have right know. I apologize. Thank you. I think I'm just looking for people willing to help me. I'm sorry. I feel desperate. I want to do something but I can't. I'm sorry. Thank you again.

Are you charging for your services? You could help with my game. I need some artwork and you could help with my story. I'm a team of 1 though.

No, I'm not charging. I haven't had any experience with working with anybody on a game so I can't really expect to be paid when I have done nothing of the sort. I just expect to be credited in the game. What's the game about? I'd like to know.

Take a look at my website. http://www.newquestgaming.com  The game is Path of Life.

I almost have a demo ready, I was waiting for a friend to make some pictures for me and I need to do a few more maps and events to finish it off.

The game play is essentially a typical final fantasy/dragon warrior type. The story is 'the battle between good and evil'. Except in my game you choose if you want to play good or evil.

That's part of what is taking me so long. Doing everything double, yet different.

"In a plane of existence where all life lived in harmony, some were not content. Greed grew to cause many to want more power and control. They plotted and killed the ruling counsel. Thus beginning the ever lasting conflict between those defending the realm and those bent on conquering it. But there were times when there were breaks in the fighting, and times when deals were made. This is one of those times."

The pictures I want are for the title screen and save/load screens. My friend is doing my character busts. I also want to have as many levels as I can with 'The Amber Throne' look. I can't do the entire game like that cause of features that would be hard to do with just pictures. So I was hoping for something with a blend of the two (normal maps and pictures).

Perhaps I may be able to do this. I can probably help with the writing for the most part but I'm not sure about the title screen and save/load screen since I fear that your friend's art style and mine will differ and create a clash.

I doubt it. He's doing character busts similar to ones I provided to him that I found for free. The typical anime style. RPG Maker restaff release art. It's different for him so that's part of what is taking him so long to make the images.

The title screen can be as awesome as you want to make it. Right now I'm looking at anime website for free images. That should fix my save load screen problem. But I also want map images. If you are interested then I can send you a screen shot of my map and you can see how badly it needs improvement. I was also thinking about parallax mapping to give the ground more life. Haven't done that yet but will need to try at some point.
