Capt_Elfimis 55 Posted June 22, 2017 (edited) Game Title: The Story of Eric Abstract: A cliche and comical RPG poking fun of the Normal RPG Narrative Genre: RPGGame Progression: Early development, The entirety of pre-production is complete and the idea and documentation is complete. ETA for Completion is 4-6 months as this is a solo endeavor/labor of love.Recruitment: I had given some thought to recruitment but most people hate working on unpaid projects, However I am very open to collaboration or taking on team members from anyone interested in the project, simply pm me and we can go from there. Just understand this is unpaid, the game will never be monetized, and it is purely for fun (amidst a few other things) If you include a Demo. please indicate the average demo time: I am currently not ready for the Demo phase, I'd say 1-2 months before a playable demo will be acceptable by my standards. Required: Foreword: I have chosen to stick to the RTP for 99% of this project for several reasons 1. It reinforces the use of Eric and the cliche redundancy of the 100's if not 1000's of projects we've seen with him 2. I want new comers to see just how versatile and creative one can be with the bare bones provided in the RTP to encourage and motivate them to strive for excellence in design and narrative even when making their first project. 3. This is a labor of love and will never become a monetized project, thus I do not want to overly complicate the design process nor devote time in to aspects that are not needed for this particular title. 4. I wanted to challenge the norm and prove that a short game made with the RTP can be both exciting and fun. Please keep these ideas in mind when critiquing this project and understand the design choice and direction of the project (Comments like "You should make your own art work" will obviously be disregarded as that is not the intention of this project) Note* The goal of this game is to purposely mock the standard RPG, the use of Eric in RPG Maker Games, and the common RPG gameplay elements that are prevalent in the gameplay style, with that being said I am open to any suggestion for this project and will gladly take any input into consideration if it adds value and merit to the design. Story / Setting / Purpose:What makes a hero.....or breaks hero? Is it the journey, the courageous acts of selflessness to save others, the notoriety of being a famed warrior, slayer of mighty beasts and foes alike? At what point does one become a hero and for how long??? This is the story of one such hero....who strayed from the path long ago and has chosen a different life...Saving the princess, no thanks. Defeating mighty enemies and foes, let the next guy handle it. Another town in grave peril and no one else is capable of saving them yet again, been there done that. Realizing that destroying the world and breaking the vicious cycle of unending monotony and slave-like trends is your true purpose in life??? ...Now you have my attention. Eric, the hero we all know and love has finally had enough "adventures" in the same land, fighting the same rats, saving the same princesses from the same bad guys...and in his darkest hour...he became that which he sought to destroy... BUT ALAS! No story is complete without a hero to save the day! Zeymour Albatross, A young and noble warrior eager to prove himself a mighty hero under the guidance and teachings of his trainer Sir Ras Damien. Character Bios:Zeymour Albatross:A young and brave warrior eager to prove himself and will do anything (ANYTHING) to prove himself to his father and mentor Sir Ras Damien:Retired Knight and loyal member to the empire, now the mentor of the kings son. He has a scar on his face from an epic battle that was acquired in an epic fashion while doing epic things. Lord Albatross: (First names are overrated) King of Altraria and most definitely a good guy but does tons of shady things that make you question his motives and is probably a bad guy...but he is a good guy...but bad. Celeste Zehir:Young, beautiful, and dumber than a sack of bricks. She has the hots for heroes and is exceptionally gifted at ruining dramatic moments, being overly sensitive, and dropping subtle hints but then friend zoning you and regretting it. Credits:Scripts:MogHunter Logo by Moghunter Quest Log by Modern Algebra Screenshots: Almost none of the screenshots are of the full area as I don't want to reveal to much too early. World Map One of the Towns Subi Forest Some shots from one of the dungeons Features:An exceptionally comical yet in-depth and involving story poking fun of the classic RPG Narrative that we all know and love. A game with Eric that you will actually enjoy! Download:Not quite ready for this as stated above Known Issues:This will be filled in once an acceptable demo is ready and feedback is reviewed. Update 1: Mapping = 90% (Just have to make final passes, balance checks, aesthetic/logical changes) Events = 35% Battle System/Mobs = 10% (I can flesh out most of this in a couple days, it's already laid out in spread sheets, just has to be implemented) Sound = This is handled in a partitioned manner with the way I do things. I do sound as I do eventing so Chars/Plot = 100% This was all done before I made a single map, no worries here. A working demo may come faster than initially anticipated but for now, I will stick the my current schedule and let things happen naturally. I know most people will see RTP and pass over this but I'm extremely confident that once the demo is out and a few people play it, it will speak for itself at that point(as it should) and the stigma will follow Edited June 27, 2017 by Capt_Elfimis
