Avery's Gear Icons Expanded

Recommended Posts

I love Avery's iconset, It's the best cleanly sourced sheet I've been able to find that's original work and not ripped from games. It's a massive, diverse sheet with just about everything you could want or need for the average game. It also has a large, impressive equipment section with a variety of matching weapon and armor types. Unfortunately, that set comes incomplete. This bothered me a bit as I am a big fan of crafting in rpgs, and I wanted to be able to have one of every type of item for each set. So I took some time and fleshed out her gear set.

All credit goes to Avery. You don't get to move a few pixels around or recolor them and claim a co-credit, lol. This is Avery's work edited a tiny bit.

I'm not very good at this, so some of them may need some TLC. Remember to thank Avery, these are just edits.

I hadn't ever seen these before, so...
These are absolutely lovely though.

I used to use that sketchy, unorganized super sheet with like 5-6 thousand icons of different quality and style ripped from every game known to man.

When I found Avery's it was such a huge moral burden lifted from my RM projects.

I like Avery's style because it's so clean and just detailed enough that it makes for easy edits and recolors. I added a few extra, smaller sheets to the bottum of mine. I noticed last night a few of my expanded items like the Katana and Skull Staff aren't from Avery's set. I need to identify those artists.

Can only wish you luck there. Might not be easily done (usually isn't unless you're a 1337 haxxor-lulz)

I think I have that icon sheet you mentioned, somewhere. I downloaded a bunch of resources too, just to see what was out there since back then, I had less ability to get what I needed (I've only progressed a tiny bit since then).

I have their names in my credits file somewhere. I think google drive or my Overworld project Credits file.

When I first got Ace I was so excited that I set forth, sword in one hand, torch in the other. I defiled google several times, finding any little crumb of pixels I could use for Ace.

Then I created Overworld, and I got serious about it. That was about the time I started to consider having to credit people for a proper (not even commercial, just proper) release.

I copied my old, dirty graphics folder and stored it away, starting from scratch. This time when I found something, I sourced the artist and wrote it down.

I should be able to search each name in my icon credits to find their sheet, and locate the off-brand icons.

Edit: I normally would never have forgetten, but I started this several months ago and the first step was finding quick fix items that would fill holes in the sets. The bone necklace and skull staff, for example. By the time I got back to it and started editing Avery's items and the katanas, I forgot to even sort the credit issues and posted. I will probably remove the off-brands and credit the katana artist.

The katana looks like an edit of the VX/Ace RTP to me. The entire column short of a couple look that way.

Also, the helm column is missing a helm, and in its' place, a duplicate of the broadsword in the same row. Just noting this.

I also see that the police/militia equipment row was removed. That one was an interesting one.

Anyway, I have assets I still don't where I got them from or who to credit because there's no associated credits file (just the importing instructions).

The modern set. Several of the icons aren't Avery's, though. The riot shield, baton, stun gun, and Bazooka are off-brand.

  • Made some fixes. The "Steel" set weapons now match the armors (don't look blueish anymore)
  • The missing helm has been done and the shield from the same set
  • Bone Necklace replaced, the skull staff was from Avery's set all along
  • The Nephilim war hammer shaft now matches the set

The riot shield looks like an RTP edit. (looking at the RTP icons it looks like someone just made the brightness 75% of the original RTP icon)

A lot of the custom icons I've made are RTP edits, like the Gem Sack (the toppled Coin Sack icon with resized and recolored gems in place of the coins).
I wonder who made the taser; I'm using that one because that's the kind of game Ramsey is. Modern Police State. Everything I detest, lol

Thought these might also interest you. Some edits I had done for Legacy Frontier.

The gem pile below the gem sack is what one sees as the icon for the total amount of gems one has. I took the lockpick and gave it a dark purplish glow for a specific item that has a chance of vanishing upon use since it otherwise is unbreakable.
All the bucklers above are the originals with two recolors each. The Dragon Buckler, default RTP shield equip, fits much better with a red hue.
The credit card Avery has is way better than the one I came up with, as an edit of an edit. lol
The green bill is a rotated card booster pack icon that @Animebryan made.
The copper dust? I don't know who made the original icon, but it's a recolor of that. The small knife to the left of the red X from Yanfly's Icon Generator is from the same icon sheet as the copper dust. The keys to the right of the lockpicks are made from Avery's Modular Keys. The furthest right and third from right took an exceptionally long time to make due to having to break pieces and remake them until they looked good. The third from right is supposed to look like how a modern key does.
"Why do you have two rows of almost identical icons?"
The first row is used for items, the second is used for a currency script. The silver coin is just an RTP edit.

Sorry everyone, but posting edits of these icons is against their terms of use.

You may edit these for your own use, but don't post them anywhere without my permission.

I had to remove all icons posted in this thread and with that, the thread is now locked.
