tastygiggidy 0 Posted February 29, 2020 So i spent many hours on a map for the game I was creating. It took a VERY long time, and I didn't really save my project during the construction of the map. Anyways, when i finished the map, i looked at it with all it's glory, and there was a lot of space at the top of the map that i didn't need. No worries, I'll take off the top by removing the height (the amount of units I didn't need was around maybe 90? the map itself was 134. So I took off 90 from the 134, and wouldn't you know, it deletes everything from the bottom, not the top. So now, the hours i spent creating this map that i was reaaallly proud of, is gone. I tried the undo button, it didn't work. I tried control z, and it didn't work, I think i did everything possible to try to get it back, and now i just give up. there probably is not a way to fix it, but now I'm going to be unmotivated and stale to work on the game for another long period of time. can you update the program so you can undo things like this? the damage is done, but if i ever even feel like getting back to the game again, it would be nice to not have to go through that again. thank you, and respond back soon
Lord Vectra 414 Posted February 29, 2020 There may be a way, but I need some answers. 1.Does your PC use Windows? 2. When did this happen?

I just wanted to say unless it wasn't clear: Pretty sure no one here has any actual connection to anyone who actually makes RPG Maker. I don't know if there is any real way you can actually contact anyone about stuff like this actually... I may be wrong. Anyway XP is really old so doubt they will update it anymore.

As Kayzee said, the program is old and has gone through it developement and support phase a long time ago. There will be no further updates to it. The same goes for VX and VX Ace. Only MV is getting updates. The problem you ran into is the same for all makers. The top left is the start of the map and when resizing a map it will remove from the bottom and right side to match the settings size you specify. If you did not have the game saved then your work is gone. In the future when you do something like that you need to right click on one side and drag the mouse to the other side of your map that you want to save (usually making the screen size smaller. This does a copy of the tiles placed. Then move the box to the top left click left click to place the tiles copied.
PhoenixSoul 1,404 Posted March 1, 2020 (edited) Ronin's advice is essentially what I would of given. HOWEVER, you'd have to do this for each of the four layers used. It's not like VX/Ace where all tiles are on a single editor layer. (addendum) The undo function is very milktoast and limited; you cannot undo past a save point, nor can certain actions be undone (map resizing is one of them and map shifting like in VX/Ace is one more). You also have a limited number of undo states, I think ten or twelve tops. Edited March 1, 2020 by PhoenixSoul
gsuk 1 Posted January 20 If you change the map size, it will remove tiles from the bottom. But in the map menu (right click on map name), there is a "Shift" option that allows you to move your map contents up or down.
