Well....crap. XP

I'm allowed to break a few rules, aren't I?

Anyways, 1.3a should probably be up by the time Christmas is over. Earliest, Wednesday, latest......never.

So I downloaded the latest version you have up just the other day. I'm not too far into it yet but I noticed a few things that you may want to fix.

1. In the Orlest cave's puzzle room, you have to leave and re-enter for the door to open after you've turned off the lights. Is it supposed to be like that?

2. The girl that joins you in the cave is in the 'dead' position after the boss fight.

3. When you leave the cave and head back to Orlest, the screen stays dark when you enter a building. And you may want to make the inn at Orlest inaccesible at that point because I payed to 'stay the night' and it was still dark when outside afterward.

So far I like what I've played though. The combo system is cool. The characters have personality. I can't wait to play some more and get further into the story. All-in-all, great job! I'm probably going to play some more tonight before bed.

1.

Are you referring to the Gatekeeper puzzle or the circle? If it's the former, then yes, you have to leave and come back in order for the door to open again if it locked previously. It's a mock-up of a Star Ocean 3 puzzle.

2. I'll have to check that out. Maybe one of the switches I use globally probably got stuck. XP

3. The going in buildings is intentional, but I'll see about the Inn problem.

Listen, I know you guys have been waiting around for a while, but before I post the next bit of my game, 1.3b, I need feedback from more than just the starting area/Orlest Caves. I need feedback from about Chapter 2 onwards before I can really gauge how well the game functions, so if anyone has gotten that far into the game, don't afraid to share your thoughts. It's not like I can really do anything if I get mad. :P

Keeping that in mind, 1.3b will probably be up by next weekend. This will take you all the way to the end of Chapter 5.

I havn't got to chapter 2 yet ( I kinda put this one on back burner for a bit) but I'm off for the next three days and I plan on getting back into it.

I like the game thus far and the combo battle system. The only thing that bugs me is the dialogue. I feel like I'm reading dialogue meant for middle or high school students... But there are definitely enough positive aspects to keep me playing. So I'll try and give you some helpful feedback after I get further into the game.

Given that most of Hielsenberg's dialogue is meant to sound aesthetically pleasing and later arrogant, I can understand the perspective. Must be because of my Shakespearean influence. :P

I gave this game a shot, but couldn't bring myself to go any further than the area where Chester joins the group.

I think the single best aspect of your game was the music you chose. I was very impressed at what I was hearing and how well everything fit into the game. It's not often that I'm this pleased with BGM selections in an RPG Maker game. I liked where your storyline was going and I did like the dialogue. I felt that you made an effort to differentiate your characters. Leon is this sort of on and off goof with a twist of seriousness while Siegfried is sort of like a human robot with occasional sparks of crazy and Annie just seems to be a classic, living barbie doll. I noticed the seriousness, the humor and all that stuff. I thought the whole Lobster Scampi thing was pretty funny in general. It's obvious that you put effort into the mapping and I was pleased with the areas I experienced overall. One thing I noticed is that you didn't build very good houses, but I think it's hard to do that nicely with the RTP anyway. Cyrus was a bit over the top in terms of its size, but I suppose you had no other choice seeing as what happens in the game. It was still a pretty well mapped out city, though.

I don't mean to be harsh, but I basically gave up playing because of the gameplay. I chose Normal difficulty and just found every standard battle to drag on. I kept going for the sake of your storyline, but it was a real chore. What actually caused me to flat out give up playing was when I encountered some sort of dragon thing guarding a bridge that completely annihilated my party and set me back a significant amount of time. I was going to restart on Easy just so the battles would go by quicker, but I just couldn't bring myself to get back to the point I was at on my Normal file. I really wanted to play more of your game for the storyline, but I just don't think I see eye to eye with you on game design if the battles are only going to get longer going forward. I'm more of a "standard battles exist only to level up the player for boss battles" sort of guy.

Miscellaneous comments:

1) Restricted saving is a letdown to me.

2) Can't read descriptions properly in the equipment menu due to the stats window.

3) "Ressources" in the items menu should be Resources.

4) Cyrus weapon store is a copy of the first village's store, and thus includes armor, even though there is an armor store in the city.

5) First Aid and Healing Wind have the same MP cost...

6) I feel like some of the icons in the field you're supposed to check for gathering and item finding blend into the environment a bit too much. I stumbled upon Fine Handles by complete accident and I didn't realize there were mining nodes until I was 2 hours into the game.

7) Annie's name is briefly left as ?????? during the game even though you've already seen it in the main menu.

Good luck with your game.

Thanks for the feedback, Fated. Gosh, I didn't even notice that Resources was spelled wrong. I'm sorry to hear that you gave up; maybe it would be better to get rid of that monster battle in Pholoso. Regardless, I'm glad you at least gave it a try.

EDIT: Just took a look at the project; the item menu that is used in the current demo is not the correct item script. I originally installed a script meant to work with Tidloc's Quest Log, which required me to run his header script, and that "Resource" that you see is part of his script.

This will be remedied in the next patch.

The Daemon fight, right? If that's the case, then it's important that you keep everyone buffed at neutral attack just in case Daemon ever casts Riposte. Don't attempt to waste your Elixirs and just use Ethers instead when Daemon uses Black Hole.

Here's a recommended setup:

Leon: Warcry (to keep buffed from Daemon's attacks), Group Tactics (as mentioned before). Just use Combos on him unconditionally.

Persea: Keep her buffed up in terms of ATK, and then spam either Combos or Reaper's Toll. Reaper's Toll will do additional damage to him. Also, it might be useful to have Fleetfoot to keep Yukari buffed so she can heal faster. Don't waste your MP casting debuffs; they won't work.

Yukari: As mentioned before, keep her AGI up so she can heal faster. If you have Heal, it won't matter in terms of speed; she'll always get the first turn. Also, Angel Snipe can take a big chunk out of Daemon's HP, but use it sparingly, because it costs a lot of MP.

You should be able to do the fight at 15 at the least, though the recommended is 16-17, if I remember correctly.

The fight is difficult, but not impossible.

Yeah,

literally was almost done the fight and the poison glitch crashed the game again. :(

I'm sorry, I really am, about the poison Glitch. Believe me, I've tried every possible thing to try and remedy it (moving scripts up and down, tweaking various things, heck, even deleting it and replacing it), but nothing is working. I need to get in contact with Yanfly, but he is AWOL at the moment. Currently, Archeia or whatever his name is is currently heading Yanfly's site, but, you know, he's not Yanfly. =|

Hmm, I think I've fixed it. The fix will be up later. Remember to copy your old save file to the new download. :D

Big update.

So, I noticed that Lied doesn't have an Items shop.....yeah, that's been fixed. Also, the Endurance Dungeon has a couple of new bosses, plus the first two floors of the "Sphere 211" knock-off are complete. Also, this will take you all the way to the beginning of Chapter 6, where, in development, a lot of the world will be drastically changed, including more free-roaming, side-quests, and the aforementioned Dungeons.

Still in need of feedback for people that have gotten past Chapter 2 and up. I know a lot of you have short attention spans but this feedback can either make or break the game; it's up to you to provide me with the feedback so I can fix it in the next version.

Here is the new, Dropbox Link, since the Demo has now officially reached over 200 MB: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g7v1jjueqban8yd/The%20Last%20Prince.exe

Oh... you're still working on this. Now I can give a review after playing the newest version.

It'll be long... and brutal... and long... and destructively constructive.

Seriously, I'll be as objective and critical as fits.

...and long. Give me a few days.

I've decided that I'm not going to give any more updates until the product is finished and ready. Then, it will be better handled for feedback.

If you decide you want to leave feedback in the meantime, that's fine, but there won't be any more updates for a while.

Since you've been devoting time to reviewing others' games, if you still want feedback on your own title I'd be willing to try it out and review it. Also, you mentioned something about a poison bug and crash. Is it related to Lunatic States / Punishment?

I actually don't have either of those scripts installed. It might be what's causing it. :|
