amerk 1,122 Posted December 31, 2012 By loading all the sample mapsUses nothing but stock resources for database Takes a whole month for the project I don't see a problem with this. in fact, if someone is able to make a decent story and a game that can make gameplay for a little more than 2 Hours, then It can be rated good or bad, depending on it's quality of other things such as grammar. Besides, I'm guilty of using RTP's base items. Why? I don't have the time/knowledge to Compose Music/Create graphics by hand. I don't have the program to make them, to be exact. You are free to post your game however way you want, but as for critiquing the game, the majority of the people that frequent an RM site will not stick to rating the quality based on grammar or story. Most will always critique the game as a whole (game play, story, visuals and audio, battles and balance, any amount of customization that went into it). So while a game may be defined good based on grammar and story alone, more often than not it will be criticized if it does not attempt to deviate (even in a small portion) from the RTP. Wren 179 Posted January 1, 2013 . Then, when i release my project, there WILL be a notice. Heck, If there is a contest for making a RPG game using Base RTP and No Custom scripts, I'll try... and possibly fail. I plan to make at least 4 or 5 games using mostly RTP, with no scripts, only minor art changes (I'd like different colored animated monster sprites, why doesn't the hue color change thing work for characters, only faces?!?) and only the default music and sound effects. This isn't to be lazy, it's so I can master all I can with eventing and using a limited choice on tiles and things to still produce something worthwhile. Will I use the default classes, items, attacks, weapons, animations, ect ect? Probably not. I'm already hip deep in working out 4 entire new class systems for 4 completely new classes on my first project, which of course required new animations, items, weapons, and skills. As far as this community goes though, if you only use the default items, characters, ect ect and sample maps, it would be hard to get any sort of positive response unless the story you told was top of the line and you used those default things to their utmost potential.
