Ace Academy: Lessons through Roleplay

Recommended Posts

There hasn't been a lot of activity here for a bit, I am glad some people are still interested!

Yeah we're still generating ideas and infrastructure in a private PM. A lot of thought has to go into it to make it work.

Things have been slow on my part due to directly working in RPG Maker and real life.

Also we may need a new artist to help the project continue. Mainly banner work and graphic design stuff, which shouldn't be outside the scope of the communities art talents. (Logo/Title/Game Over makers I'm looking at you ;) )

As well, an extra person to help us speed up the design and infrastructure of the Academy would be nice and keep it rounded.

EDIT: Just updated the first post with some information we've been deciding on.  Omitted is the Lore (The post is long enough).

A general breakdown of the Lore is that three planes exist. One of magic, one of negativity, malice and hatred, and another that is the physical world of Ace Academy.

The world of malice and hatred is inhabited by entities called Djinni. These Djinn possess objects and people to spread the downfall of the world into their plane. The Academy has been constructed to stop their spread.

This is the jist of it. There's a lot more in the PM but I'm not about to dump a bunch of it in here ;)

Looking good and thanks for starting to try and recruit another artist. I'm so sorry for all the trouble!

Things are getting a little hectic for me and I'm thinking of maybe leaving to focus on my own project fulltime, since I've already been delaying things too much and am becoming a liability :( Its not much use to have an artist that randomly dissappears!! So umm.. should I stay or should I go..? Are you okay with me being kinda inactive or would you prefer someone more reliable?

This is an amazing project and I think it deserves someone better who could make more progress..

I wish I could help more with stuff, but I am really only good at coding, and I don't think this project will need much of that...

Also, too bunni: Hehehe

That was exactly what I was thinking of XD I dunno why songs just pop into my head, lol!

And.. well maybe you could volunteer to be a coding teacher once the project opens? :3 I certainly know I'd love to learn!

I would, but I think they already sort of decided to shy away from coding... I don't really blame them, because it's a real complex subject that goes far beyond RPG Maker it's self. I did have some ideas related to it though before. :3 I still like the idea of starting with skill formulas and then event scripts before talking about full scripts, because they are bound to be simpler to understand and more useful to the average game designer.

KZ, if you wanted to teach a section on custom formulae or event scripting, I bet that would be well received.  It would be like stealth coding.

Yeah, and I figure after that all people would really need to know is class definition and aliases to be able to make full scripts :3

Hey all. Bad news. Due to lack of interest and loss or inactivity of key members of development the project may not continue.

Such is commonly the case of user projects. I don't want it to reflect poorly on the project itself. It has a lot of promise and with it's current progress has a good shot at working and being enjoyable.

Nor do I want it to reflect poorly on the people involved. All projects, including collaborated games, tend to go this way. People have lives, and lives often intervene with our online goals and agenda. Sometimes they take precedence, not because we want them to but because they have to. It's just the way things go sometimes.

In the future I hope to have some free time to pour back into starting this project up again and getting it on it's way. Perhaps as a newly appointed mod this project will be taken more seriously and can be discussed as an official project of the forums. We'll see, but just know that date hasn't been determined yet.

Well... honestly I kind of think in that case it might be better if anyone who wanted to do something for this just do it... I don't know how much interest there is really, but it might be easier if everyone did there own thing with the idea and people worked on making a full game out of it later.

The idea is certainly on the table for anyone to pick up and do as they please with.

I still feel the idea itself would greatly help the community and any community hosting it, if not open up a new genre of development.

So is this project completely shut down or what? So I can lock it I mean.

I believe you can lock it. For anyone interested I will be started a smaller version of this within the week. It will simply be the learning aspects. I'll maybe take in five students. So Obrusnine would I just start a new topic for that, or would I continue to use this one?

It's probably best to make a new topic.

With that, topic locked.
